    Lobectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

The first surgery lasted over 6 hours and the surgeon never found the tumor. A month later they went back in and removed the upper lobe of the right lung. Because they opened the same incision, I healed very slowly.

    Cancer has spread/Metastasized

    Oh No

My original onclolgist refused to believe my lung cancer was back. After dragging her feet for 4 months she finally had me see a thoracic surgeon. The surgeon did a biopsy in July and concluded it was the same type of cancer that I had previously. August 31st, she planned on either removing the lower lobe or the rest of the lung. Unfortunately, in 5 months It had spread to the lymph nodes. She ju st closed up the incision and told me to start chemo as this was treatable but not curable..

Anemia (low red blood cell counts)

    Side Effects

I was very lucky. Did not lose my hair. The carbo gives me a splitting headache for 24 hours and nothing helps. My main problem seems to be a drop in both red and white blood cells. and platelets. Have had to get shots to help with both. I also had to have 2 tranfusions while in the hospital in December and had 2 more today. Have a lot more energy now. Its a shame it only lasts one week.
