    Diagnosed

    Oh No

I found a mass about 3 yrs ago, I was told it was fibrocystic tissue and not to worry, but with the history in my family it was watched very closely. Mammo, ultra-sound and biopsy performed every 3 months on a rotating basis. In April /12 I had a mammo--clear--, June was my ultra-sound/biopsy... the u/s was clear, however 2 weeks later when the biopsy was done 2 of the 4 samples came back cancer. I should mention that this lump is large (6.5 cm x 6 cm) I was told it is IDC stage III locally advanced.

    Second opinion

    Decision Point

my first surgeon wanted to do a double mastectomy with reconstruction to follow MAYBE a yr or 2 after, thank God my hubby was with me and responed with a strong WAIT!!! we want a second opinion. my current surgeon is AWESOME!!!! She is very empathetic, caring, warm, funny, casual, and such a force to be reckoned with!!! she got me to quit smoking when no one else could!!!

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I am in an excellerated regimine of neo-adjuvant chemo for a short period to shink the tumor. my Dr is hoping to be able to save at least some of the tissue so that a mastectomy is not required. I have only been thru 2 treatments so far and it has been relativly easy, no nausea, slight fatigue, but HORRENDOUS headaches.

    Easy to Do: Strongly Agree
    Minimal Side Effects: Agree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Agree
