    Diagnosed

    Oh No

Routine mammogram resulted in doctor asking to do ultrasound and candidate for Dilon Diagnostic Scan because my breasts were dense and large. As my doctor said my breasts "hide" things. Had some unidentified cells in left breast the year before (2009) so we felt warranted. Saw a lump on right breast but even the radiologist was 99% sure it was benign.

    Double Mastectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

Was not prepared for the Jackson Pratt drains to take so long to come out. Had 3 "jugs" and took 5 weeks to completely have all removed.

    Went as Expected: Strongly Agree
    Minimal Recovery: Strongly Agree
    Minimal Side Effects: Strongly Agree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Agree

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Had 4 rounds of Adramycin/Cytoxan combo "red devil" , then a lesser chemo of Taxol and 52 treatments of Herceptin (preventative drug) and all most ever hear about is nauseousness and hair loss. There are a myriad of other side effects. White blood count drop - had to take Leukine to get white blood count up. Because of steroids administered serious weight gain. Diabetic so had an infection in leg, thrush in mouth, developed blood clot in left lower calf which resulted in taking shots daily of drug to dissolve clot. Positive though, no nauseousness and did not have to shave legs/underarms. All in all, even though it was trying, I am here to tell my story.

    Easy to Do: Strongly Agree
    Minimal Side Effects: Strongly Disagree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Strongly Disagree
