    The lightchain numbers are increasing.

    Decision Point

We will be making a decision to try a new chemotherapy to replace Velcade and Revlimid.

Our oncologist says it time to replace Velcade & Revlimid with a newer drug. The kappa lightchain numbers have increased in a month from 130 to 162.

    Decision Point

Pomalyst is the new drug. It is taken for 21 days with a 7 day rest period. It is also given with Dexamethasone.

    FRACTURED HIP

    Oh No

Had pain in buttock and down left leg and thought it was sciatica. Received a steroid injection which eased the pain. In walking up a curb, my left leg gave out and down I went. Terrible pain; couldn't move. Taken to the hospital, had x-rays which showed a fractured hip. Had a cat scan and the decision was made that the multiple myeloma cells in the area probably caused the fracture.

    Oh No

Course of treatment was to radiate the hip area where the cells are for 12 sessions, given daily M-F. Began physical therapy and have to wear a brace when I'm out of bed. Next phase will be to complete radiation (had 6 sessions so far) and upon release from the hospital, I will go to a rehabilitation center for further physical therapy.
