    Diagnosed

    Oh No

I knew when I felt a lump that something could be wrong, but I continued to tell myself that it was probably nothing, so I tried not to worry about it until I had my appointment. My initial response was "how did this happen to me"? What did I do?

What type of surgery do I want to go through?

    Decision Point

I took my doctors advice and decided to do a lumpectomy. It was clearly the best choice for me at that time.

    Lumpectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

I had my first surgery on February 24; and then a second one on March 15. It wasn't fun, but I jokingly told my surgeon, to make sure this would be her last slice of my breast. If she had to take much more, then take the whole thing.

    External radiation

    Radiation

The radiation treatment was very tolerable (at least going through the process). The radiation nurses were fabulous. They were very kind and were always positive and upbeat when I came in.

    Bone thinning (osteoporosis)

    Side Effects

There have been a number of side effects for me. However, I am the type of person who ususally gets about 95 percent of side effects for any medication or treatments. Bone chilling pain, forgetfulness, blurried vision, etc.
