    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Had been given 5fu and oxiliplatin. Had to be taken off oxiliplatin as was causing liver problems. Felt much better after they did that as oxiliplatin caused me to have numbness in fingers and caused me to have problems with things cold to the touch and also couldn't drink or eat anything that was cold. I had to warm everyhting passed room temp to even attempt to eat or drink.

    Chemo brain

    Side Effects

I had bouts with diarehha, low white blood count, nausea, occasional constipation, and chemo brain. Every day was different. Never knew from day to day what complications would occur.

    Health insurance issue

    Oh No

I was diagnosed with colon cancer while we were vacationing in AZ. I had to find a hospital while I was there. IT was a scarey situation as I had never been sick before. I had to have surgery in AZ and do my recovery from surgery there. After 2 months I came back to ND(home) and started my chemo treatments.Once I got home, I found out that my insurance wasn't gonna cover my hospitalization as they were claiming that my problem was pre-existing condition.l got my health care provider to write a letter stating that it was not a pre-existing condition and finally the insurance company paid.
