    Decision Point

When told that Interferon (at the time the only FDA approved non-investigational treatment available) is not clinically proven to sustain overall life I made the decision to not endure the horrible side effects. Instead I took a leap of faith and signed on for a Phase I clinical trial. The best decision I could have made.

    Clinical Trial

Although there are many unknowns with the clinical trial the side effects are tolerable. I can continue to work and I've gotten my life back. There isn't a doctor out there that can guarantee this won't return. We're doing our best medically to ensure it doesn't.

    Celebration

Each scanning period is a celebration. For those diagnosed with cancer NED is all we hope to hear. I hope that I'm NED until I'm 100.

    Anniversary

    Celebration

One year out from hearing "Kellie it appears you have a melanoma reoccurrence and it's in several lymph nodes". In one year I've had a radical groin dissection, 30 radiation treatments, 63 injections with clinical trial drugs (56 of them in my right leg), 9 IV infusions (clinical trial drug), numerous scans, and two apherisis procedures. In that one year I managed to have all of this happen. Went back to work mid-January and have managed fitting in three vacations (soon to be 4). Life doesn't stop! Don't allow it. I walked the dog two miles on Sunday and then rode my bike 30 minutes. I celebrate life everyday and I celebrate with those who love me. I celebrate each and every time the doc comes back with scans which report NED. I hope to be NED until I'm 100.

    Cancer "might" be lurking

    Oh No

Recent scans revealed a change in a left iliac lymph node from three months prior. Not too worried. Keeping optimistic that it may be a reactive node.

    Needle Biopsy

    Procedure or Surgery

Well the questionable lymph node took up too much sugar during the recent PET scan so now a needle biopsy will happen on the 17th. Not the way I planned to start the New Year but gotta roll with the punches.
