    Diagnosed

    Oh No

I was amazed after so many years of mammograms and exercising etc that this would happen.

    Lumpectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

My lumpectomy wheat without a hitch although my underarm area was very painful afterwards. So feel fortunate.

    Internal radiation (Brachytherapy)

    Radiation

It was difficult having the catheter under my arm for a week and not being able to shower. Also having treatments twice a day was gruelling.

    Painless Experience: Neutral/NA
    Minimal Side Effects: Agree

Whether or not to have chemo

    Decision Point

I am strongly against chemo and had two tests IHC and Fish one indicated negative for HER2 and the other was borderline negative. So my o colorist who I didn't like sent off for another test called Mammaprint which came back as high risk for recurrence within 5 years. I questioned this result and am seeking a second opinion. Meantime a new oncologist in the same area redid the FISH test which came back negative so will not have chemo and will have hormone therapy for, five years

    Hormone therapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I used Letrozole, the generic of Femara and had excruciating joint pains in my body and hands in the third month so was changed to Tamoxifen. Am now into my third mo th of this without too many rpornlems so we shal see.
