    Diagnosed

    Oh No

Had a pleural effusion that caused a total collaspe of right lung lobes. Admitted to the hospital for 6 days. Was told that I had lung cancer but a primary tumor could not be found. An appt was set up for chemo, but I wound up back in the hospital the next week because the fluid had built back up.

    Fluid removed from lung

    Procedure or Surgery

Had fluid removed from right side lungs and two pleuradesis procedures. First didn't work because cancer caused fluid to continually build-up. Second was ok after receiving two treatments of a Carboplatin & Taxol combo. I believe this procedure is cause of some of the chest pains that I sometimes experience.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

11/4/10-The beginning of chemo treatments that are still going on. Carboplatin & Taxol combo wasn't too bad except for the hairloss. Had 12 treatments. Graduated to Taxotere after tumors appeared.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Switching from carboplatin/taxol to taxotere due to new growths. This stuff is no joke. I am having all kinds of side effects-chest pains, joint aches, muscle pain, weak muscles. I am also taking an oral steroid (Dexametha...) that is causing its own issues.

    Heart problems/heart damage

    Side Effects

I have been having issues of pain and heaviness that may be associated with my heart. On 12/02, I went in for some cardiovascular tests. I hope and pray that that the test bring in negative results for damage to my heart. I will know on 12/07.

While cancer had already metastisised, latest CT assessment shows that the tumor in the lungs have not progressed. However, the hilar lymph nodes have grow into a larger mass.

Had MRI and CT scans! No progression upward! No change in nodules located in my lungs. Annnnd, decrease in all of the affected lymph nodes. Small steps, but steps indeed. Thank God. Continuing the treatments with Alimta every three weeks.

    Oh No

***Update below **** Got results of CT and PET bone scan. And the results were as reported. Goond news-the Alimta is working well on the lymph nodes. One is back to normal size and there was a marked reduction to two others. Bad news is that I now have a lesion on L3 of my spine that is generating its fair share of pain thru hip to (left) right thigh. I also have a new lesion on the upper part of the my liver. It is still small so that is a plus. I will be starting a new chemical most likely in conjunction with the Alimta-still waiting on this determination. I will also start targeted radiation on the bone lesion. This will be the first radiation treatment in this whole journey. I hear its not something to (look out for) forward to. Thanks for your prayers. Please keep them up. While I still place all of this in the Lord's hands, it is a lot to think about. Things have been going so positively, that this is a bigsetback. Hubby is back to worrying. Please lift him in prayer. Luv to all. ***Update*** Saw Oncology Radiologist today. I will get 10 targeted radiation shots over a 10 day period. According to him, this is considered a not too bad position as for as bone mets go. My bigger concern is the liver met. My team has actually been amazed at how well I've been doing given my initial diagnosis. I just know what my G*o*d can do.

    Cancer has spread/Metastasized

    Oh No

I had the second of this three rounds of Alimta. Was informed by my oncologist that the pain I have been experiencing in my left ribs is quite possibly another met to the bones. He thinks it might have been too small to show up in the last scan. I kind of feel this was the situation, because I really feel more in tune with my body (does anyone else feel like this?) but I will keep an open mind because I have turned this over to God. I just have to let Him do what He said He would. We will have another scan done in about 5 weeks (I will be visiting kids and grands, father, brothers & sisters in California) to see if this is actually showing up as a met now or if it could be a bone fracture. While this is very disturbing news, I am determined to be faithful to my God and share the testimony that He has given me so far until (borrowing from RuthAnne) there is nothing else for me to do here. Your prayers are solicited for my family for they just don't see things exactly as I do. My love to each of you, my extended family.

    Oh No

Had a CT scan 05/25/12. Results showed progression to the left lungs, increased number of lesions on liver and more mediastinal lymph nodes affected. I now know what cancer pain is. Because of the pain, I was taking pain killers that contained codeine. Apparently, the codeine was making me nauseous so I couldn't keep my food down. Thank God for the tenfanyl pain patches that have reduced my pain by 95%. While this is not the best news, it's also not the worst. I am expecting to be placed on Tarceva for my next chemo and will continue to do what I can while continuing to hold on to His hand. Right now I am visiting with my family in northern California and am looking forward to a great vacation.

I have been in California since June 4th. My visit started out well, then things took a turn for the worse. I am now under hospice. I am on oxygen 24/7, my saturation level is at 77%. On my left side I have blood clots. I had pneumonia that started on my left side and has now traveled to my right. Also on the right I have plural effusion of the lung. I am no longer taking coumadine. Overall still holding my faith. I know that God is good and will help me through. Love you all my extended family
