    Diagnosed

    Oh No

My doctor called me just this past Thursday. Said it was IDC and then grade 1-3. At the time I was numb and didn't ask what that meant. She also said it was a 1 on the mitotic index. Does anyone know what she meant by grade 1/3? I'm going crazy this weekend thinking about it.

    Lumpectomy

    Decision Point

My surgeon said she thought a lumpectomy with radiation afterwards, following with Tamoxifen would be the way to go. Not that I don't trust her, but I got a second opinion from an excellent breast cancer surgeon and researcher in Baltimore and she said the exact same thing. I feel confident with my decision to have a lumpectomy/radiation/tamoxifen.

OncoType DX Assay Results are in

    Celebration

I received my results from the OncoType DX Assay Results this past Thursday. I do not need chemo....my numbers were too low (12.) Hurray!! Although the women I work with are a bit disappointed...we had all agreed on and picked out the same wig to wear to work while I was going through the chemo.

    Finished treatment

    Celebration

I finished radiation about two weeks ago. I'm starting to feel my old self. Although I was never really tired, just sort of living in limbo. The scar from my lumpectomy is disappearing so fast...it's amazing. I've lost a few layers of skin and am using "Carol's Daughter's" scar cream (all natural) and it's fantastic. I know a scar cream isn't something I should post regarding ending treatment but it's the little things in life I have to learn to enjoy.
