Lumpectomy or Mastectomy on left breast

    Decision Point

MRI showed not one but two locations in the left breast. Decided that after lumpectomy's I wouldn't have much breast left so decided Mastectomy on the left is the best decision w/reconstruction type to be decided before surgery. MRI also showed a large amount of cysts in the Right Breast, so an MRI directed biopsy of a few of the cysts is needed. Hoping to keep the right breast but if not I think I'm okay with that too. My husband of 37 years and I have decided my life is much more important than two breasts. I seem to always try and see the positive side of things in life so trying to keep to that with this situation.

(10-30-2012) MRI directed biopsy of cysts in Right Breast

    Procedure or Surgery

With this test, after they start an IV, you lay on your stomach with your boob handing down and put in a vise!! The the doctor numbs you up and directs the needle/tube into the cyst. Once I was numb all was okay but man I am sore and I have a very multi colored boob now. The good thing is the results were good and I get to keep at least one breast. YEAH

(11-5-12) Tram Flap/or equivialent or Saline Implant

    Decision Point

Either way there will be no sensativity in that breast. I have been working real hard at loosing weight and have only 30 pounds to my goal. The thought of using my own tissue for reconstruction means a tummy tuck (good for my ego) or a saline implant. Have heard good and bad on both decisions. Can't decide until I meet with the Plastic Surgeon this week. I have decided however, that instead of having him tatoo a nipple on the new breast I am going to have a different kind of tatoo. Maybe flowers, hearts, butterflies, and swirly bits that make me feel beautiful again. A kind of celebration that not only covers the scar but is special to look at. I am looking into different designs.
