Was given a choice:lumpectomy or masectomy.

    Decision Point

Met with Dr. for the first time.I was told that chance of recurrence after having either procedure would be about the same.So I will 1st have MRI next Friday and if all is well I will have surgery, a lumpectomy, followed by 6-8 weeks of radiation. Also a lymph node will be removed for testing at some point ? a bit confusing.

    External radiation

    Radiation

Was intense looking back.Sort of shell shocked having survived nhl stage4 so far, and not long ago, and now this.In between treatments was helping my dad with my mom, who has now passed from colon cancer w/complications almost 1yr ago. Radiation in my case stage 1 BC ,following lumpectomy w/2 day surgeries, was not too bad,and very different from big gun chemo I'd had in past for stage 4 NHL.
