    Diagnosed with cancer.

    Oh No

Was told I had a 7 centimeter tumor clinging to the wall of my lung. I was originally given 6 months to live, the first doctor told me to go home and spend all my money.

    Other

    Decision Point

After being home for 1 week my husband convinced me to go get a second opinion. I went to an oncologist at the Froedtert Cancer Center and started getting tests done. After 2 weeks of tests my surgeon told me he didn't believe the cancer had spread anywhere and ok'd me for surgery.

    Lobectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

I had no other choice but to get surgery, in the 2 weeks I was going through testing the cancer had grew another centimeter and without removing it I wouldn't have had long to live. The surgery went extremely well and my recovery didn't take too long, but I wasn't able to do anything for a while as they had to break my ribs to open me up and get the tumor out.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I was originally scheduled for 4 chemo treatments but the first one was so hard and stressful I couldn't go and do more. The dose they gave me was so strong my body went had an allergic reaction and my face swelled up like a pumpkin. Even though I only had one dose it was so strong all of my hair fell out in 2 weeks, and skin peeled off of my feet nonstop for a week. There wasn't anything I could really do for almost 2 weeks after the procedure, I just layed on the couch all day miserable. I ended up having to go to the hospital for dehydration.
