    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

The chemo was easy to do it was the side effects that were hard, I was always tired, wanted to eat but everything tasted terrible, like metal, always having a weird taste in my mouth, felt as if I had the flu for like 4 days some times longer. I did have 4 doses every two weeks, just finished that, now on December 3rd I will be starting a different chemo Taxol every monday for the next 12 weeks. I heard the side effects with this should be alittle better, I sure do I hope so.

    Cancer is shrinking

    Celebration

Just received a phone call from from doctor, my ultra sound I had yesterday shows that my tumor that was 1 1/2 by 2 centimeters has shrunk down to .5 milliliters & it is no longer in my lymph nodes. I am so happy...& this is only after 4 doses of chemo, still have 12 weeks left but I will do this...

    Other

    Side Effects

While getting my 1st dose of Taxol yesterday, they gave me 50 mg of benadyl & as soon as they hooked my up I got really dizzy & high from it, also very sleepy. So when I got home I slept most of the day, The nurse did tell me they give this so no allergic reaction is gotten from the taxol, I asked her if I don't get an allergic reaction will the doctor lower the dose, she said yes, I hope so at least by xmas eve as I get my 4th dose that morning & will be going to my sister in laws to eat, that night, Was able to taste food at supper too. I have 11 more to go before I am finished with my chemo!!!

    Eyebrows/Eye Lashes

    Loss

Tomorrow I have my 6th dose of Taxol & have 6 more to go & now my eyebrows are coming out & my eye lashes are starting to thin. Being bald is one thing but losing my eyebrows & eye lashes is another thing. Oh well I guess this is just part of getting better, they will grow back. One day at a time & being Positive!!!!

weight & just my well being.....

    Decision Point

I am going to try & eat much healthier, the sweets are going straight to my hips,(LOL) Before cancer, I was a lifetime member of Weight Watchers, ate very good, don't smoke, had a glass of wine from time to time. Since the cancer diagnosis I have felt depressed & sad, this is a new year, it's time to kick this cancer in the xxx. I will fight with all I have & more. Watch out 2013 I am back.....

    Look Good Feel Better

    Other Care

I went to this meeting this afternoon for cancer patients & had the best time, they gave you free make-up & helped with showing you how to use, we tried on wigs, hats which we also got to take home. I made some new friends also.and I almost didn't go.

    Double Mastectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

Had a problem trying to get pain meds to work, nothing worked except what they could give me in my IV, but my blood pressure was so low unable to give it to me. Stayed in hospital 4 days, They removed my drains on 3/13/13 which was a relief, I took no pain meds for that either, which I wish I did, only had 4 drains in. Took my 1st. shower yesterday & boy it felt wonderful. I will be starting physical therapy in about 2-3 weeks & radiation also unsure when that will start. They took out 24 nodes & they all came back clear yeaaaaa!!! also remember when taking pain meds you will (at least I did) get constipated take something for that, that the doctor ok's. You have enough pain without having to go through that..........

    Breast Reconstruction (Implant)

    Procedure or Surgery

I forgot to say I also got reconstruction of silicone implants done the same time as my double mastectomy, My PC calls it one & done. I did cry the 1st time I looked in the mirror because to me they didn't look like my breast's but my husband told me not to worry that I still am beautiful & all that matters is that I am getting better & the cancer is gone. I just love him.

    Haircut & Color

    Celebration

I went to the salon on friday & got a trim to add shaping to my hair & I colored it. I have been going without my hat now, at first I was a little nervous but I am getting use to it. The hats were getting hot to wear now that it is getting warm outside. I still have a ways to go with growing my hair out, just means more fun with different hair styles...

    Follow up appointments

    Other Care

I had both follow up appointments with my oncologist and radiologist everything went well, they both said I am doing great my skin is healing from radiation. They did send me for a chest x-ray today I have been having a dry cough & been alittle winded, could be from both chemo & the radiation. Looks like I will be starting work in September part-time 1st since I am still tired in the afternoon. September will be a year since I was diagnosed wow time did go by fast but while I was going though it all it didn't feel that way...also the rash I have is nothing for me to worry about, thanks to all who answered!!
