Diagnosed
Oh No
Found a lump, had a mammo, then ultra sound. Biopsy was the next day. Results were 5 days later. Kaiser has a tumor board for newly diagnosed breast cancer on wednesdays. It was great, I met with the MO, RO and the surgeon in one afternoon. Chemo started 2 weeks later.
Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
I had 4 rounds of AC. Every other week. Then 12 weekly rounds of Taxol. Not bad because I didn't try to work. Still wouldn't recommend it to anyone that didn't need it!
Double Mastectomy
Procedure or Surgery
Since my sister also had BC, I opted for bilateral mastectomy. I am still having shoulder issues but they are getting better. LE is mild so far...... Surgery was 3-21-11.
External radiation
Radiation
Radiation was not bad. Mild blistering towards the end. All in all it could have been worse. It does impact daily life because you have to be there every day for 6 weeks.
