Ipilumamab and CD40 @ Penn Medicine

    Clinical Trial

I was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer December, 2011. I decided it was best for me to leave the small practice of oncologists that I have been seeing and o to Penn Medicine. It was one of the best decisions I made in my life. I immediately responded to the drugs and less than a year later I am very, very close to being cancer free. This drug combination (also known as immunotherapy) has been a life changer for me, well actually, it gave me life. My cancer was spreading very quickly and it is doubtful I would be here writing this today if it had not been for this treatment. I can't say enough about the doctors at Penn Medicine - they are fabulous! They are on the cutting edge with treating melanoma. This particular clinical trial gives you a 60-80% chance of going in remission. I will gladly share any information - just send me a note.

    Fever

    Side Effects

The clinical trial I am participating in has manageable side effects. I have continued working the entire year because I was able to manage my side effects. The side effects are: fever, chills, aches, pains, headache, itching, and constipation.
