    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Had approximately 4 months of chemo. Lost my hair and ability to stay awake! Feet and hands swelled up. But it was better than what others have had to deal with. I was well taken care of with drugs for nausea, sleeping, sore scalp, sore mouth.

    Lumpectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

Doctor went in to remove remains of tumor, but thanks to Herceptin (!!!), there was nothing left to remove!! They did remove 2-3 more lymph nodes which came back negative. I was officially cancer free!

    External radiation

    Radiation

Six weeks of daily radiation. Experienced burning of the skin and extreme tiredness. I was fully advised of this in advance and used my cream religiously. The tiredness got me more than anything.

    Lymphedema

    Side Effects

The swelling in my right hand and foot eventually subsided, but my left hand and foot remained swollen, especially the hand. I nicknamed it "Pig Hand" because it was so pudgy. Chemo brain STILL persists!

Went to PT for probably 8 weeks for lymphedma.

    Other Care

I had my entire left arm and hand wrapped in ace bandaging, including my fingers. It was fun to type! Also my left foot, and had to wear a bootie. Eventually was fitted with a compression glove. Now I feel naked it I don't have it on.
