Diagnosed
Oh No
Went in for what was thought to be a gallstone blocking the liver, only to find out it was an Ampuallary tumor. My husband had the Whipple procedure done & is now waiting to recover only to start chemo
Surgery
Procedure or Surgery
Whipple is a very difficult surgery to recover from. It almost gives you time to forget about the cancer
Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
Well chemo started this week for my husband. He breezed through the first treatment, I was exhausted!! By Friday he was getting more tired, but has done better than I expected. I hope this is a sign of things to come.
Side Effects
My husband is handleing the chemo much better than expected. We have to find areas in life to celebrate now.
Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
It seems that my husbands chemo days are harder on me than him. We get home & he is hungry & I am exhausted!
External radiation
Radiation
The radiation started with no problems, but as time went on it started takings its toll. Plus he went on an oral chemo when he started radiation. Compared to the side effects others have had, I think Jacks were minimal. But there were side effects. Extreme fatigue & loss of taste were the 2 biggest issues.
Cancer is back/Recurred
Oh No
2 months ago my husband had his first CT scan after finishing radiation & chemo, it came back clear. yesterday they did a PET scan & it is back. Our surgeon got tears in her eyes when she told us. I am thinking that is not a very good sign.
Cancer is back/Recurred
Oh No
2 months ago my husband had a clear CT scan. Last week a PET came back with a lymph node back in the original spot....The only option right now is RFA treatments. But they are very new to pancreatic cancer, and his is surrounded by multiple blood vessels. Not looking good right now.
Loss
After battling Ampullary cancer for 14 months my husband Jack lost his battle. This is a terrible disease.
