Lumpectomy - AngieL

Procedure or Surgery Associated with Invasive (Infiltrating) Ductal Carcinoma . Posted on June 6, 2013 View this journey (10 Experiences)

Had my lumpectomy & sentinel node biopsy yesterday. 3 nodes removed. Won't find out results for two weeks. A portion of the suspicious duct was also taken and examined during the surgery for cancer cells. It was negative, so I didn't lose any of the nipple... So far, I've had minimal pain, and I'm taking pain meds as instructed to make sure it stays that way. Can't lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk for at least two weeks. The breast is swollen and bruised, so I can't tell yet if the shape will be changed, but the incision is razor thin and just around the edges of the areola, so I'm really happy with my surgeon so far. Now I wait for news on margins and node status. Got my fingers crossed!
