Loss Associated with Breast Cancer. Posted on July 6, 2012 View this journey (8 Experiences)

My journey started differently than most. In August 2009 our 22 year old son was diagnosed with terminal kidney cancer. The cancer that hit him was typically found in men over 50. He was given 5-10 months to live and on New Years Eve 2009 he passed away. Five months later I needed to retire...I cared less about spreadsheets and was blessed to be able to retire. I had every medical test known to mankind prior to my insurance stopping. Imagine my surprise when I was told..."there's no other way to tell you other than you have breasted cancer". I called my husband...had about a ten minute meltdown and thought..."great....what next".

My journey seems to have started much differently than most. In August 2009 our 22 year old son was diagnosed with terminal kidney cancer. He was given 5-10 months to live. The cancer that hit him was typically found in men over the age of 50. After his passing New Years Eve of 2009 we decided it was a good time for me to retire. In the fifth month after his passing I went for every check up known to mankind. If I was going to retire I was going to use what insurance to be deemed healthy. Imagine my surprise when I was told...."I'm sorry....there's no other way to say it other than you have breasted cancer". I had about a ten minute meltdown and then thought..."great..now what".
