Colon surgery (colectomy or hemicolectomy) - Boomgirl

Procedure or Surgery Associated with Colorectal (Colon) Cancer. Posted on April 2, 2016 View this journey (2 Experiences)

Removed sigmoid and part of descending colon, both ovaries and appendix. Seven days in hospital. I was sent out for CT scan for suspected clot in lung but negative. Funny doc said if I could fart I could have tea. Bowel sounds returned and normal diet reinstated day 3. Liquid BMs until Day 9. Normal with some constipation since. Now taking fibre supplement (Metamucil) to keep regular. This may change with chemo, just started. Main complaint since surgery has been fatigue. 18 lymph nodes were removed; cancer found in 3 of them. Ovarian cyst turned out to be benign. Next step chemo.
