External radiation (Proton beam) - chowhound

Radiation Associated with Prostate Cancer. Posted on October 2, 2012 View this journey (3 Experiences)

I start my 3 day workup at UF Proton Center in Jacksonville Wednesday. Have some apprehension about the closed MRI because I do have a little Claustrophobia, but think I can get through it. They are going to do a bone scan. I think it is to see if the cancer spread outside the prostate. I don’t know how accurate that is or how much they can tell. Anyone know anything about bone scans? Going to implant the markers Thursday and a simulation on Friday. Hope to make the 4 hour drive home before dark Friday.
