Waiting is terrible. My husbands doctor told us he would be in hospital overnight then should be able to go home and be home a week. Cant drive for a week, As long as no complications. It is still sinking in he was just diagnosed last week. his gleason # was 8, I feel like I have been hit by a truck, I know it is terrible on the patient but it is terrible onthe spouse too.

I understand your concerns. It was 6 weeks for my wait and I had a delay interjected in the middle due to a testing snafu, but the reassurance of my medical team that Prostate cancer is very slow helped.

I also agree that I was in a panic about whether or not it was spreading, but in the end I trusted that the bone scan and MRI showed no spread outside the gland.

Staying calm was difficult, but I trusted my dear wife with my thoughts and feelings and we have made it so far.

I just had my surgery last week and tomorrow I start the external radiation process.

For the weight loss, I was not recommended for surgery because of my weight so I am now trying to get back to my weight process. I had lost 30 pounds and then stopped. I had to work through that, but I focus on one day at a time. Focus on the goal - getting cancer free. The food suddenly loses its strong draw (at least for me).

I remind myself every morning that I'm alive today so there is still something for me to do. The games not over yet.

Keep the faith and know you're not alone in the journey. We've all been there.
