Brachytherapy - DaveRN94

Procedure or Surgery Associated with Prostate Cancer. Posted on December 21, 2011 View this journey (4 Experiences)

Elected brachytherapy (seed implants) from a myriad of options to treat prostate cancer after being diagnosed Oct 18, 2011. I had the brachytherapy done 1 week ago, Dec. 14, 2011. Came home after the out-patient proceedure with 53 Iodine-125 encapsuled radioactive "seeds' added to my prostate. The "seeds" will deliver radiation to my prostate with the aim of destroying the cancer cells with minimal damage to the normal cells.

I left the hospital last week with some urinary burning and a little hesitancy. I week later and I don't even know I had the surgery unless I think about it. I am amazed--zero side affects as of today. Can that change? Oh yeah, but I am optimistic based on how well I am doing.

Went as Expected: Neutral/NA
Minimal Recovery: Strongly Agree
Minimal Side Effects: Strongly Agree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Strongly Agree
