Procedure or Surgery Associated with Adenocarcinoma, Esophagus Cancer. Posted on October 27, 2011 View this journey (3 Experiences)

I had the lower portion of my esophogus removed from the stomach up to just above the barretts esophogus. The surgery took a little more than two hours. The Surgeon Oncologist I had is considered one of the best in the country. He told me the surgery went extremely well. It was mostly an laproscopic procedure that he continues to pioneer. Pain was primarily at the incision sites. However, it is sore thoughout the stomach and chest area. I am now 9 days after surgery and feeling very well. Only slight discomfort. The hospital stay was 8 days. Not typical-can be up to 15 days while they insure the reconnect area is healed and not leaking and the rest of the organs are working properly.
Namely the stomach, lower intestines. Ie. pass gas and bowel movement.

Keep in mind attitude is everything.

Went as Expected: Agree
Minimal Recovery: Agree
