Surgery - Gooseberry

Procedure or Surgery Associated with Liposarcoma. Posted on September 15, 2012 View this journey (4 Experiences)

I had three surgeries in fact. After the first surgery, it took 3 weeks to receive an inadequate pathology report. I then traveled to Johns Hopkins for a second opinion. The recommendation was a second surgery to try to achieve clear margins. Although the initial surgeon had acknowledged cancer cells in the margins, he did not offer the option or suggest another surgery. I changed surgeons and had a second surgery. This surgery showed another tiny tumor in one of the margins, so the surgeon told me another surgery on the same day was needed to remove MORE margins. Unfortunately, after the pathology report came back, there were more cells in the new margins. The new surgeon then referred me for radiation.
