Mastectomy - Jenann

Procedure or Surgery Associated with Invasive (Infiltrating) Ductal Carcinoma . Posted on June 8, 2018 View this journey (2 Experiences)

This surgery was less painful than lumpectomy with two lymph nodes removed. I was more alert and better overall. I had chemo port placed at the same time. They also took one additional lymph node, so 3 total. On the morning of mastectomy surgery I saw the news about certain breast patients might be able to skip chemo. I tried not getting my hopes up that it would apply to me but unfortunately my oncologist told me he was at conference in Chicago and the study only applies to women whose tumor is smaller than 1 inches and mine was 1.25”.

Went as Expected: Strongly Agree
Minimal Recovery: Disagree
Minimal Side Effects: Neutral/NA
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Strongly Disagree
