I agree. I thought the swap surgery was more painful than the double mastectomy. I couldn't believe how sore I was.

I had my 'swap' surgery on 9/13/17 where the tissue expanders where exchanged for tear-drop shaped implants. The only complication I had was the anesthesiologists had difficulty intubating me. This was a first! I was under anesthesia a long time for a day surgery. I had the surgery had Brigham & Women's in Boston. Arrived there at 8 AM and was discharged close to 8 PM. Difficult time....my friend who took me and remained in the hospital while I had surgery said I looked a bit rough when they brought me back to the recovery room.
Due to the shape of the implants, I needed to have a drain on either side. This time the drains hurt - I felt everything!

Yes, I had fat grafting done 3 months after the permanent implant surgery. It did fill in the hollow spots, but between losing some weight and time, some of the hollow spots are back. Also about 9 months later, I felt a lump where my initial tumor had been. My breast surgeon went back in to remove it. It turned out to be benign, and he said that he had never seen it before or really knew what it was. At an appointment that I had later with my plastic surgeon, he thought that it was probably some of the fat the had "died". So, I guess that is something that can happen. I now am just leaving them the way that they are. It isn't something that you can tell when I am dressed.
