Double Mastectomy - judys3cats

Procedure or Surgery Associated with Triple-Negative Breast Cancer, Ductal. Posted on October 28, 2017 View this journey (12 Experiences)

I had surgery at Brigham & Women's 4/19/2017. Dr. Carter performed the surgery and Dr. Erdmann-Sager placed the tissue expanders. The surgery went quickly. In the hospital for 2 nights. I stayed on the painkillers less than one week as they gave me nightmares! I had a hard time emotionally as this was my second time with breast cancer and I was depressed about the surgery. Friends were very kind to me at this point in my life.

Went as Expected: Agree
Minimal Recovery: Strongly Disagree
Minimal Side Effects: Neutral/NA
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Strongly Disagree

My first breast cancer had spread to lymph nodes. So that was Stage II. This latest occurrence had not spread. Due to BRCA-2, a mastectomy was recommended.
