Procedure or Surgery Associated with Adenocarcinoma, Small Intestine Cancer. Posted on December 15, 2014 View this journey (8 Experiences)

Major abdominal surgery with HIPEC to remove tumor that had grown to size of a football. During surgery heated chemotherapy was added to my abdomen for 90 minutes to kill any microscopic cancer cells. 2-3 month recovery but has been worth it!

Went as Expected: Agree
Minimal Recovery: Neutral/NA
Minimal Side Effects: Agree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Disagree

I hope you are still doing well. My husband has (had) adenocarcinoma of the small intestine. He had surgery to remove it and 12 rounds of chemotherapy. We are considering HIPEC as a prophylactic procedure since his cancer could easily metastisize to the peritineum. We would do a laprascopic procedure, though, unless they see something suspicious looking. If you could share any more about your cancer journey with Adenocarcinoma of the small intestine, I would be appreciative!
