Implant chemotherapy port - MaggieB

Procedure or Surgery Associated with Colorectal (Colon) Cancer. Posted on April 17, 2012 View this journey (6 Experiences)

I had my chemo port implanted today and it went well (so far). The procedure was relatively painless and was completed in about 15 minutes. My biggest issue was the placement of the blue sheeting covering me during the procedure. I have mild claustrophobia and I tensed up but they gave me something in my IV and I was fine. I spent 1 hour in the recovery room and then went home (had to be driven home due to hospital rules). I was awake during the procedure and only felt pain twice and it was minor. Most people report no pain at all. Right now my neck and shoulder are stiff and a little sore. I will update this if pain increases or any other symptoms appear. So far so good. It took longer to get prepped than the actual procedure took.

Went as Expected: Strongly Agree
Minimal Recovery: Not Specified
Minimal Side Effects: Not Specified
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Not Specified
