I had my first chemotherapy IV infusion of Oxaliplatin just 5 days after my port was implanted. Other than just feeling slightly fatigued, some stomach cramps and a metallic taste in my mouth that same day I felt fine. I had been prepared for all these debilitating side affects from nausea to neuropathy that never materialized.
