Wide excision surgery - MelaBabe

Procedure or Surgery Associated with Skin Cancer - Melanoma. Posted on October 31, 2011 View this journey (3 Experiences)

Wasn't sure what to expect as others who had a WLE had differing recovery and surgery experiences. I was fully sedated and it took 90 mins. Had 60 stitches which was more than I thought as the mole wasn't that big. Went home on crutches and told to keep my leg raised above my heart for a week. I had decided to have the surgery while on my approved 2 week vacation but didn't realize it would take me 5 weeks off work. I am currently starting the 5th week of recovery and just now am walking fully on the foot without pain. My incision has half the stitches absorbed and half not. It looks like an elongated "S".

Went as Expected: Neutral/NA
Minimal Recovery: Disagree
Minimal Side Effects: Agree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Agree
