Procedure or Surgery - moonshell

Procedure or Surgery Associated with Kidney Cancer . Posted on August 15, 2011 View this journey (4 Experiences)

Had surgery June 30, 2010. Luckily growth was encapsilated. Was in hospital 3 days. Looked and felt like XXX. I was fortunate enough to have my 3 children, fiance, and friends there to take care of me and support me. First month of recovery was rough but was back teaching in Sept.
January 2011- 6 month check-up. Had blood work and cat scan. Everything was fine.
August 2011- year checkup. Had ultrasound. Right kidney actually had grown which is good. Doc said that was unusual in adults and usually only happens with children. Guess I'm just a big kid- :)
Will go back in 6 months for another check-up.
Turns out that pain that I initially had in May 2010 had nothing to do with my kidney cancer. That turned out to be arthritis in my lower back on the opposite side. I had no symptoms. Just glad my fiance pestered me to see my doctor or who knows where I would be ?

I hear incidental discovery is very common. For me it was a head on collision that injured me and also revealed the cancer while I was in the ER... people tell me it was a sign from God, but that crash was an awfully mean way to give me a sign.. I had only a high level of tiredness, slept alot and was mildly anemic. My entire cancer in the left kidney was like yours, fully encapsulated, I feel fortunate. I was told I am fine go live your life, but they still require every 6 mo exams.
