Is it normal to wait 3 months for surgery?

I was diagnosed in March (2014) and had surgery the beginning of June. Part of the slowness was determining what surgery was appropriate for me, meeting with the surgeon a couple of times, meeting with the plastic surgeon once I decided on reconstruction along with my double mastectomy and then scheduling all the appropriate doctors etc. My oncologist indicated that surgery didn't need to be viewed as an emergency, but nor did he want me waiting six months.

I should add that I did surgery first, followed by chemo and herceptin. I am HER2+ Sorry to read below that this is your second bout with cancer. Sending good thoughts your way.

I'm not sure what is a normal wait time. I think each person's case is different & you just have to have faith that the right decisions are made. I was dx in March, 2016. sent to a surgeon who wasn't sure it was cancer so he wanted to see if it grew. By July, the nodule had grown & he couldn't help me as it was MBC. NO surgery. Saw an oncologist the next week & started chemo the following Wed. She was a blessing. I'm 3 years out & doing great.
