Colon surgery (colectomy or hemicolectomy) - nanny2lexi

Procedure or Surgery Associated with Colorectal (Colon) Cancer. Posted on December 30, 2013 View this journey (5 Experiences)

This might not have been so bad if I had been a little more informed of what was going to take place. I had no information before surgery of what was going to take place other than removing a portion of my colon and my appendix. Had no idea how long recovery would take or how long I would be in hospital; but surgery went off without a hitch

Went as Expected: Strongly Agree
Minimal Recovery: Neutral/NA
Minimal Side Effects: Neutral/NA
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Disagree

No it sure wasn't. Wishing it would have been. I think that the type of surgery really made the recovery process longer and harder. Thanks

You are right I was lucky enough to be laproscopically but my sister was done the "old fashioned way" We had very different experiences. I am glad it is behind you now!

How much of the colon did they remove from you if you don't mind my asking?
