Experiences with Cancer is back/Recurred

Cancer recurrence is when cancer returns after a period of time where the cancer has not been detected. There is a big fear of recurrence in cancer patients especially after surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy when they believe to be in remission. The three types of recurrence are local recurrence (returned in the same place), regional recurrence (returned in the same area), and distant recurrence (returned in another part of the body). The risk of recurrence is different for each person and each type of cancer. The best thing to do is to ask your doctor if you have questions about the possibility of recurrence. You can do everything you are “supposed” to do and cancer may still recur. There is never a guarantee that cancer will not come back.

The fear of recurrence is one of the most haunting feelings cancer patients experience. Rather than worry yourself with the idea or recurrence, it is important to realistically prepare yourself for the possibility. The biggest questions are, “How can I live with the fear of recurrence?” or “How do I cope after cancer recurrence?” or “How do I deal with worry as a cancer victim?”. Many WhatNexter’s suggest being proud of the battles you have won and to live life with that same bravery you had during your cancer. It helps to be grateful for every good day you have and to stay positive. For more insights on attitudes about cancer recurrence, post and answer questions below.
