External radiation - PattiJ

Radiation Associated with Fibrosarcoma, Adult Soft Tissue Cancer. Posted on May 25, 2014 View this journey (5 Experiences)

I finished radiation therapy 2 weeks ago. It was a 7 week course of IMRT. I was hospitalized durin treatment for 3 days because of dehydration and because my blood pressure would drop by up to 50 points when I stood up ( so I dropped too. Passing out a couple of times!) I expected to be tired out but did not expect this continuing level of fatigue. Nausea has been a problem, too - due to the location of the tumor, my stomach, esophagus, heart and lungs got a good dose of radiation so nausea is still continuing, too - I did not expect this as a side effect, and it's still going on.

Painless Experience: Agree
Minimal Side Effects: Disagree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Disagree

PattiJ, Im sorry to hear about the ordeal you are going through, hang in there! Im two weeks into a seven week IMRT treatment and I've definitely got the fatigue issue going on and my weight is dropping but thats it right now. What are next steps in your onco gameplan? For me it will be a full PET scan in the fall then re-evaulaute. Im focusing on diet, rest, and getting toxic people and situations out of my life. My main focus has become all the good things in life....kids, family, freinds, music....being more present. Kisco Kid out.
