External radiation - phrannie

Radiation Associated with Undifferentiated Carcinoma, Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma. Posted on April 9, 2012 View this journey (9 Experiences)

I've had rads twice....the first time it was along with chemo. My neck was burned, as well as my mouth...no taste buds, and no saliva. The taste and the saliva stayed gone for 3 years. Then I had a recurrence and had rads to the nodes under my collar bone...those rads had very little effect on my daily life.

Painless Experience: Agree
Minimal Side Effects: Disagree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Disagree

Actual radiation is painless....the side effects are enormous. Even now, 2 1/2 years out I have little taste and little saliva...that in itself affects "daily life"....but I'm still happy I'm on this side of the dirt.
