Robotic assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy - RickT1953

Procedure or Surgery Associated with Prostate Cancer. Posted on July 10, 2013 View this journey (6 Experiences)

The actual surgery went as I expected. The recovery process was longer than I thought and a bit more painful. Not really side effects but I was incontinent for a long time. Kagel exercises pretty much useless. I was offered drugs to stablize the bladder but what really worked was physical therapy where they taught me how to use other muscles to control the bladder and how to move with those muscles engaged. I used pads for a long while, started going padless at night after 3 months. Totally padless 8 months later. Sexuality still not happening for me but Doc says it can take up to 2 years to get back to normal.

Went as Expected: Strongly Agree
Minimal Recovery: Neutral/NA
Minimal Side Effects: Neutral/NA
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Disagree
