Celebration Associated with Sarcoma - Adult Soft Tissue Cancer. Posted on November 3, 2011 View this journey (3 Experiences)

My wife, an employee at the American Cancer Society, was given a 30% chance of surviving 5 years. We recently celebrated that 5-year milestone together! The journey was a difficult and emotional ride. On more than one occasion, we almost lost her. When she returned to her hospital room from the Intensive Care Unit (one of several visits), we created the acronym "ESD". It stands for "Every Stinkin' Day"...it is not meant to be viewed negatively. For us, ESD means we will have fun, laugh, and make "every stinkin' day" memorable. We have done so "every stinkin' day" for the past 5 years! Every day is appreciated. Every day is fun. Every day, we try to make someone else's day better by "paying it forward", or initiating "random acts of kindness." My wife and I often share that cancer changed our lives - all for the better!
