Abdominal hysterectomy - ruggersmarty

Procedure or Surgery Associated with Cervical Cancer . Posted on July 30, 2014 View this journey (2 Experiences)

I had my cervix, uterus, both tubes and ovaries removed. I stayed in the hospital for two and a half days. When I woke up in the observation room I was in so much pain that I was in tears and gripping the bed. I was given double the dose of pain meds and hooked up to a pain pump. I did better than expected and they took the catheter out the day of surgery afternoon. I was walking a few hours after surgery and was off of the pain pump by the next day. Walking has been pretty slow going and I feel like Mr. Burns from the Simpsons. It's slowly getting better day by day and since I'm only a week into my healing process it can only get better from here.

sounds like you got through it pretty well, I thought I was doing good but I was in hospital 4 days and on pain meds 2 weeks, normal life is just now happening. Surgery was end of April. Consider yourself lucky

I am on week 3 from my radical abdominal hysterectomy and I still don't feel great. I'm glad to hear I am not the only one who thought the whole process was roses! How are you feeling now?
