Internal radiation - shannon

Radiation Associated with Thyroid Cancer. Posted on January 31, 2012 View this journey (2 Experiences)

After my daughter's second round of radiation she had to go to a specialist in pittsburg to remove scar tissue from her salivary glands. She is still in constant pain and cannot eat normally everything she eats or drinks causes her pain. I knew in the beginning that there would be some discomfort because with her first round there was but it went away....this time it didn't and sorry to say but it really XXX me off that not only on top of her having cancer she cannot eat normally now. She goes down to Hershey again for her third consult. Her thyroid cancer has spread into her lymph nodes in her chest and her last ultrasound showed slight growth in her neck area. I want to scream and cry why but nobody can answer that question. Her next step after a week long of testing if it shows she still has cancer she will have to be admitted to a children's hospital where they have more expermintal procedures. I pray that it doesn't come to that . I have three other children and I don't know how I'm going to do it.

I can sense through your words how incredibly difficult this is. It's hard to understand why, and to get all of your questions answered. And as most people on WhatNext will say, sometimes it's dealing with the day-to-day things that can seem almost as difficult as fighting the cancer. There is support out there for you. First, the American Cancer Society can point you toward plenty of resources. Their phone number is at the bottom of this page. Also, another great resource is People Against Childhood Cancer. They have terrific resources listed here:

Please let us know what help you need and we will be here to support you in any way we can.
