I didn’t have very good health insurance and owe a great deal of money

    Sharil, if you are asking what to do:

    First, ask to talk to Financial Counselors or Social Workers at your clinic, hospital, and doctor's office. Large medical centers usually offer to let you apply for a waiver of co-pays or some other type of help, including charity donors. Social workers may know of other types of help.

    After you see how much they will waive, call the American Cancer Society and ask for a list of organizations who help under-insured patients. They do have a list, and I received help from one for my chemo pill.
