Experiences with Allergic reaction

Before taking any kind of medications or undergoing cancer treatment, it is important to tell your doctor if you are allergic to anything including medicines, dyes, additives, or foods. Mild allergic reactions are common, usually on the first time the medication is administered. Mild allergic reactions include fever and chills. More rare reactions include feeling lightheaded or dizzy (due to low blood pressure), fainting, changes in heart rate, hives, nausea, itching, headache, coughing, shortness of breath, back pain, tightness in the throat, trouble swallowing, or swelling of the face, tongue, or eyes. An allergic reaction is initially alarming, but can be controlled and monitored by your care team. If a reaction is happening at home, it is important to contact your doctor.

A lot of WhatNexter’s are scared of the side effects that treatment will cause. They have asked, ‘Has anyone else had an allergic reaction to chemotherapy?’ or ‘Has anyone started having allergic reactions halfway through treatment?’. Some WhatNexter’s wonder if there are other options than the drugs that are causing the reactions. One of the most common allergic reactions is a rash caused by chemotherapy. Aquaphor is a reliable product for a rash and is recommended by WhatNexter’s. For more insights on common allergic reactions, read what others have gone through and share your own experiences below.
