Oh No Associated with Breast Cancer. Posted on September 8, 2012 View this journey (2 Experiences)

In May 2009 they found a spot on my mammogram and said it was nothing. They would keep an eye on it and make sure there was no change. Repeat mammogram every 6 months. First 6 months everything was fine. I put off the next mammogram because my husband had lost his job and I had MRI on my lungs and thought if there was anything there it would have found it . I was wrong. As I was told that wasn't what they were looking for, so it wouldn't show if there was anything. So in August 2010 I went for my follow up Mammogram. They found 2 spots this time and they looked Suspicious. This started many different doctors visits. I didn't know how we were going to pay for all the test and doctors. The good lord provided for us. My husband had been off work since July 1, 2010 and had just got out of the hospital for blood clots in his lungs. I was the only one working and I had insurance through my job. I went to surgeon and she set up for biopsy. It came back positive and because of family history they wanted to test to see if I was BRAC positive. This would determine what treatment I would receive. I was positive for BRAC 1. September 22, 2010 I had a blilateral masectomy. I had great Doctor's. They had prepared me as much as anyone can be prepared. My family and friends were great. They were great. There was a lot to take in and such a short amount of time.
