Optimistic. Recovery is slow, but there are glimmers of hope.

Good luck with the ED..I had the surgery(12/13/12) and results seem about same as you regarding Gleason/cancer containment etc..at least so far..haven't seen 3 month PSA yet, but cancer margins of post surgery pathology looked good. Taking 5mg daily Cialis but no "real" erection yet. Best I can do is a larger flaccid situation..but that's something..hoping it will improve..but?..Some have posted they had good erections soon after treatment(but didn't specify exact time period) and suggest ED is more a problem with damaging the nerves during surgery. Which I "suppose" won't correct itself in time. So i don't really know what to expect. Plan to continue Cialis(tadalafil) for 3 months and reevaluate. Goodluck

Recovery in this department is turning out to be much slower.. if any.. than I had hoped. I have the same experience as tomget - "Taking 5mg daily Cialis but no "real" erection yet. Best I can do is a larger flaccid situation..but that's something..hoping it will improve..but?.." it has been about 11 months.... still hanging in there ;-)

As an update..i eventually quit the 5mg Cialis because i thought it was giving me heartburn and similar side effects that were a little annoying..when I considered how little the Cialis was helping.

But later(8 or 9 months after the surgery?) when talking with my urologist he said something like the Cialis 5mg was "for me anyway" just something for the time being to kinda help with blood flow etc, and that he intended for me to go with something like 100mg Viagra(Sildenafil) which he prescribed and I immediately got much better results. BTW i hear from patients that depending on who does the surgery..some peeps don't lose any erectile ability at all...So..I guess some Doctors are just better at this? I don't know..Just saying. Myself..i wish the doctors that can't do it well would either learn to do it well or quit doing it. What's the deal???

Still its not like it was before the surgery-the erection, but much better than the 5mg Cialis. And when I take the 100mg Sildenafil the effect can vary from "almost" as good as it was before the surgery(but never as good) to a lower level of more like the best result I ever got from Cialis. So it varies. Don't know why, but guessing it has to do with the specific level of sexual excitement for each instance. And other factors that I don't understand.

Viagra (Sildenafil Citrate Tablets) is not covered by my Medicare Drug plan and retail its "really expensive for me". I buy it on line at the Northwest Pharmacy(Canada?) and I pay $88 for 48 pills...I could buy 100 pills for $145.

Talk to your doctor, maybe it could improve things for you as well.

    Goodluck

BTW just to be clear..the Viagra(Sildenafil) is just taken some time prior to a sexual experience..like an hour or so before..and with enough sexual excitement some level of Erectile function is possible. And it seems like the pills effective for maybe an 8 hour period or so. I don't mean one gets an 8 hour erection! But just that the pill will aid achievement effectively over a period of 8 hours or so.

Its not taken as a daily pill as the Cialis is.
