Procedure or Surgery Associated with Skin Cancer - Melanoma. Posted on January 2, 2015 View this journey (1 Experience)

Took my dad in to have a knot looked. The dr. removed
the knot and sent it in. It came back as skin cancer. The said he
was sure he got it all. But we had to go see a cancer dr. So we did.
The cancer dr examined the site. He was happy with ot. He looked over my dad and found more spots. He removes them. Went back in 1 week
things looking good. We go now 1a month. 2months later he goes
and they remove a few more spots. But that is all the dr is doing.
When he goes and if gne dr find any all he does is remove
them.

There are several types of skin cancer, and for the less deadly forms such as squamous or basal cell carcinomas, it is appropriate to remove the offending spot and just move on. With the more deadly melanoma there is usually a discussion about whether additional treatment such as immunotherapy, or additional surgery such as a wide excision, or removal of lymph nodes might be appropriate. So, depending on the type of skin cancer, just removing them might be appropriate treatment.
