Had my 6 year(!) follow up mammogram a week ago today and yesterday got the call to come back in for more views today...trying to keep everything in perspective and hope they are just being very cautious...I would appreciate any good thoughts (and prayers) if you have a few to spare...also had surgery to release a tendon in my wrist last week due to deGuervains tendinitis as a result of the arimidex I was on for 5 years...I am healing well from the surgery and hoping that today's visit to the Breast Center is just routine.

Oh, I'm so glad to hear this, Gabba. What a relief. That's interesting that that can happen. Good to know. Please let us know how the six month check-up goes. Picturing the nurse on the floor - funny. Now that's someone you want on your team.

Woo hoo! Glad it was nothing worse than a scare. And glad your wrist is doing better, too. Hope that numbness resolves.

Today I had my annual mammogram. My 5 year cancerversary is Tuesday, 9/8/15. I had some anxiety going in today but I received wonderful news. ALL CLEAR! Radiologist came and spoke to me herself as the technician knew I was anxious since last year I had a recall, stereotactic biopsy and "the wait". I did not want that to happen again...so after I called my family to give them the good news I went shopping! Now for a piece of chocolate and a celebratory dinner tonight!! My best wishes to all my sisters who share this journey with me. And you too, Greg!!

I realize we are just getting over a brutal winter but it is not too early to think about summer camp. For those Cancer patients who have children ages 6-16, I would recommend checking out Camp Kesem at campkesem.org. The camps are held at 62 colleges in 29 states and offer free, one week sessions.
Applications are online and it is first-come, first-served so I wanted to bring it up now for those who might be interested in researching the camps. We had several children of members of our Cancer Care Council attend last summer and loved it. Did I mention it's free?!?
When I was working as a pedi nurse practitioner this was not too early to start doing camp physicals...parents did not want to miss out because of late paperwork. Wishing you all my very best.

Happy first day of spring to everyone! Here in Boston we are expecting another 2-4 inches of snow overnight to add to the 108" we have had since 1/23 making us the snowiest (and coldest) place on the planet. YEAH US! warmer weather cannot come soon enough...have a wonderful weekend!

Recipe for making your own Magic Mouthwash:
    1) diphenhydramine (12.5 mg/ tsp) aka Children's Benadryl (100 ml bottle)
    2) Mylanta or Maalox (100 ml bottle)
    3) 2% Viscous Lidocaine - you can get a Rx for this from your physician or Nurse Pratitioner..very inexpensive but it is covered by most insurance) (100 ml bottle)
These 3 ingredients are to mixed in a ratio of 1:1:1
Easiest way is to mic 50 ml of each ingredient. Shake well (lidocaine is very thick). Keep at room temperature. Use to swish, gargle (do not swallow or you will numb up your throat).
I used this for many years with children who had stomatitis, mouth ulcers, canker sores, hand-foot-mouth, etc.
Hope this helps those of you looking to make your own. Grace

My thoughts and prayers go out to all those undergoing treatment, whether surgery, chemo, radiation in the Northeast...especially in the Boston area...another 1-2 feet of snow expected tomorrow into Tuesday, on top of the 4 feet we have had in the past 2 weeks. And a shout out to all the medical personnel who make it to work to provide those treatments. You are all heroes! Grace

Woke to blue skies, 13 degrees, blowing, shifting dunes of snow...quite beautiful really.
Our driveway was cleared at 10:30 last night by a backhoe!
2 boys that live up the street from me just rang the bell and asked if they could do anything! They are clearing my back deck where the drifts are 1/2 way up my slider. And all for $20.00 and homemade chocolate chip cookies! My husband will be thrilled when he gets home tonight that he does not have to tackle that job. Thanks for all your well wishes. More on the way!

Woke up to 6 inches of snow on my back deck and 15 inches on my front deck and 2-3 foot drifts against doors and garage. Still have power, although many of my friends do not. Have cranked up the heat "just in case"... Crock pot already going...snow expected to last all day and into tonight. Keep us new Englanders in your thoughts!

Brrr! Stay warm! I'm in Ohio; one of my coworkers is in Little Rock AR. I growled at her today because we were @ 16 degrees last night & they were @ 51. This morning we were @ 6 w/a windchill of -3 -- they were at 41. That snow storm just grazed us. We had about 3 inches Sunday night into Monday morning rush. Slip sliding away....... Hope you and your neighbors all stay safe.

Thanks so much...on the protected side of the house (without drifts) we have 28 inches and expect 2-4 more before it ends later tonight. And now they say there is another small storm coming Friday/Saturday with a more significant storm on the way for Monday! Enough!!!
