Kola, I took carboplantin and Alimta as my first line of therapy. Received it every 21 day. My one piece of advise is take stool softeners, the constipation is awful. I have some nausea and vomiting with fatigue starting on the 4 th day and lasting till about the 10th day then thing would start improving. I felt better if I ate small bites all day long and actually ended up gaining weight instead of loosing it. My hair thinned but I never lost it all. If you saw me any other time except for my sick week, you’d never know I had cancer. I only stayed on this combo for 6 months then went on to do immunotherapy. Best wishes for you .

I have NHL and have been doing scalar treatments at MOA Wellness Center in Honolulu, but can't tell whether it's helping or not. This has been my longest time, almost 2 yrs., since receiving and stopping chemo and doing the scalar treatments. The last PET scan, however, showed an increase in size of tumors although not as large as when first diagnosed. Onc. Dr. is ok with wait and watch. I will be having another PET scan in May when I see the Dr. again.

Please keep me updated on your progress. My tumor shrunk a little with chemo, I’m on Keytruda now, which onc. Doctor was hoping to build up my immunity and shrink the tumor more. So far I’ve had diarrhea, lost weight and tumor isn’t shrinking.

Now it's being said that chemo drugs contain cancer causing ingredients. I haven't started treatment yet but now I'm really scared. So many horror stories.

We have several people on the site that are lung cancer survivors that will be along to give you some suggestions. Things that I want to know are: How am I doing right now in your treatment plan as far as where you think I should be now. If this is not working, what is the next step. What are the drugs that will be used? Is immunotherapy being used, or can it be used? What about clinical trials if the first or second line treatments fail? There are enough questions to fill a book. But these are just some that come to mind. We wish her the best!

How will they address the lesions on the bone, with radiotherapy or a drug like Xgeva? Is your sister a candidate for a biologic or a targeted therapy? Does she needs second opinion? How will they manage the pain issues?

Start by asking all the questions that you just asked here. Knowledge is power, the more you know about her condition and the effects that her treatments are having, the better you can help her
